Visiting Old Spitalfields Market to Swish with Mrs Bear

So I was kindly invited to come and swish at Mrs Bear's Swap Shop at Old Spitalfield market, which I jumped at. So what is swishing.....

Swishing is a clothes swap, and it works as thus:

1. You can bring up to seven items of clothing

2. You get stamps for each item of clothing as you enter, one colour for high street, and one for designer.

3. You pay your entrance fee of £7.50 (I was given free entry as a blogger - full disclosure!)

4. You can then get swishing, and search the rails for any items you want to 'buy' with your stamps.

I brought me with 7 items (3 of which were classed as designer) so I could get 4 highstreet items and 3 designer. I browsed the rails for a while, grabbing a few things to try on. I actually ended up sharing a changing room with a lady who was trying on two of my items!

The actual event is at Old Spitalfields market, as a small closed off area in the market, as a guess I'd say it was about 5 or 6 market stalls worth maybe? As new items come in all the time, you can return later to see if anything else has come in, if you haven't used all of your stamps.

I did swish all of my seven stamps, and I'll be sharing some of my items as and when I wear them! But I definitely got some great pieces!

It would be interesting if Mrs Bear decided to add a colour/rail for vintage/retro, to encourage a few more of us with awesome vintage clothes to swap? What do you think?

Check out Mrs Bear's site for future swishing events to attend.

Swishing at Spitalfields Market - Saturday April 27th

I have been invited to attend my first swishing event, Mrs Bear's Swap Shop which is being held at Old Spitalfields Market this weekend.

You can bring up to seven items that you no longer want, and get yourself up to seven new ones. Sounds fun!

Have you ever swished? Got any goodies?

The Wolseley - Breakfast

Yesterday I headed off to The Wolseley Hotel for breakfast, and although that meant I didn't have time to do a proper outfit post, I can do a vague one.

I struggled a little with what to wear as I'm off on holiday soon so need to keep most of my clothes clean ready to pack!

I went with just a black skirt and grey cardigan, so nothing to write home about, but I did see the bright side of the cold weather- I got to wear my favourite faux fur again!

I wore a faux bang, and my current favourite chiffon scarf. I have some matching vintage style earrings, and the colour combo pleases me.

The breakfast was nice, not quite as nice as perhaps I had hoped, but definitely nice!

Our favourite places in Shoreditch, Hoxton and Dalston

Rockalily Cuts is in Hoxton, which is slap in the middle of Shoreditch and Dalston, so I thought we would share some of favourite local places!

The Love Shake is probably the place we frequent most, for after work drinks. We grab a beer, a veggie bagel and Stinky the dog can come with us. They're definitely one of our favourite neighbours.

The Fox is in Haggerston, just down the road from us, and we love snuggling on the leather chairs with a vodka or two. They also allow the beast in.

Betty's Coffee is (despite their spelling error) in Dalston, and just down the road from us. I love grabbing a coffee and crumpets while I catch up on my emails.

Hula Nails is a retrotastic place to get your nails and spray tans sorted!

I will add to this list as I remember other places I've no doubt missed off!

Jive night for Literacy

Rockalily Cuts is proud to be giving a raffle prize for this charity jive night, which is raising money to help children with their literacy. Tickets are £20 and I've no doubt they'll be a great time had by all.
