Rockalily Style: A Rockabilly Christmas

I have already blogged about my Rockabilly Christmas, but here is my official Rockalily Style post of my outfit.

I wore a christmas hair piece and vintage 1980s anchor clip on earrings.

My cardigan is such a fragile vintage piece, it is from the 1950s I would say, and is super tiny, so I can't wear it buttoned up!

My dress is a 1980s C&A black lace number, which feels like a 50s dress, but isn't.

A Rockabilly Christmas (Choosing who you spend Christmas with)

This year I didn't spend Christmas day with my family. Now despite my mother waxing lyrical about it showing I'm a true grown up, it actually isn't the first time I haven't been with my Mother for Christmas. She seemed to forget the Christmas day I spent in India, or the Christmas day I worked, and the one I spent with my cousin and her family, as well as the Christmas I spent with a boyfriend. Anyhow, this Christmas was a first Christmas I spent with friends.

We started with bucks fizz, which is of course how any rockabilly christmas should start. I did arrive a tad early, as I was bored at home alone, so both my hosts weren't quite ready for me, but luckily I can amuse myself!

We were rather excited, and started the day with present swapping and a short walk to pick up the few things we needed still for Christmas lunch.

Now, I can rock an apron (one of my gifts for Pip Jolley, my host) but I do not cook. Ever. This picture was merely posing on request of Ryan to model the apron. I didn't contribute to the cooking in anyway.

The table was set, we felt all grown up and respectable, and dinner began!

The day may have ended with a cheese board, wine, an online QI winter quiz and David Attenborough on the tv. Sadly I didn't win the quiz, but I reckon I was a pretty good quiz master.

Who did you spend Christmas with? Have you ever spent it with friends rather than family?

Luckily my mother lives close by, so I did manage to pop round after dinner, before the cheese board! Best of both worlds I guess!

My Christmas presents (feeling very lucky)

Well, I'm a very lucky lady, and don't I know it. Each year I try and document my presents to give me a focused amount of time to reflect on who got me what, and on how lucky I am to have people who love me, and who chose to get me some awesome things.

So, for any of you who are nosy enough to be interested, here is most of what I got (from top left box clockwise)

1. Hair clips (for every colour I could be) and black chiffon head scarf

2. Dog Tooth wool coat

3. Dents navy beret, two silk scarves and vintage glasses (broken but too pretty not to keep)

4. Vintage orange cape with rose cardigan clips

5. Vintage deadstock cowboy shirt and Monsoon jumper

6. Patent black doctor martin boots

7. Vintage Amami setting lotion bottle with bakalite lid, three vintage bottles, two Charles and Diana glasses and unused vintage clippers

8. A fold out picnic mat, a dog oven glove thing to dry Ellinton with, and a dog jacket.

9. Tissues, Liz Earle stuff, Chanel perfume, Calvin Klein perfume, Vasaline, Latte Lip Balm, No 7 eye shadow, Monsoon hand mirror

10. Two diaries, Cath Kidson doggy tin, blue poodle soap dispenser, rockabilly cd, leopard print tights

11. Vintage white cardigan

12. Vintage silver notes and stamp holder.

What a haul! I hope that the gifts that I gave made my recipients feel as loved as my gifts made me feel!

A Rockette Kind of Christmas

A few snaps of the Rockette Family Christmas House.

Mother Rockette went with a white theme for this fireplace, with white fairylights, and white decorations.

The white paper balls hanging from the ceiling are in fact christmas decorations. Quite cool!

The living room fireplace had a nature/green theme - understated but effective! If I ever own a store, Mother Rockette will certainly be in charge of window displays!

Fancy a sneak peek at my christmas presents?

Christmas Gifts - My Blog Post

Christmas is now over for another year! I love seeing my family, but also love getting home again at the end of it!

My family put a lot of effort in Christmas, which means my gifts are always a little overwhelming, and I always like to take a few days to appreciate how lucky I am. This year is no different.

So, here is what I got!

My vintage glasses tattoo was my first christmas present this year! The gift that truely lasts forever!

This is the No.7 Light Up Mirror, which lights up around the edge. I have added some random stickers to cover the No.7 logo.

The massive book is A Year in Fashion which is a mixture between a photography book (history of past 100 years in fashion) and a diary/journal. Each date of the year has a page to take notes in it. It weighs a ton! The second book is 50's Fashion which is a graphic collection of vintage advertising. Thirdly, a crossword book as I am always disappointed at how poorly I do at crosswords - practice makes perfect!

Two note pads, one with a vintage typewriter, and one full of cute dogs. Two lipstick pens.

A N.W.3 handbag. N.W.3 is the younger sister brand from Hobbs and this uber cute mini bag is currently in their sale if you fancy it too!

A swallow diamonte necklace, which came in this cute wooden gift box.

This is a rose cardigan, perfect for snuggly in when spring gets cold! I think it has a nice 1940s quality to it.

Leopard print tights, and two pairs of stockings.

Hot water bottle, tissues, Elemis cleanser and dollars for my VLV 15 trip in April 2012.

A leopard faux fur collar. I am going to cut the ribbon off, and add a little hook and eye to make it sit more neatly. I  look forward to wearing it with cardigans to get a new look!

This is a cropped jumper, again it has a nice 1940s edge to it. I was bought a size small, which I am certainly not, but oddly it fits. Perhaps it was designed to be a little baggy, but I would wear it tighter (with a pencil skirt or high cropped trousers).

It has a very sweet cut away and bow detail on the back.

This is a squirrel print top with a peter pan collar. Again, it must be designed to be loose and baggy, as this is a size ten. But it fits nicely (and more fitted) on me, and I am also going to take it up to make it shorter, so it has more of a vintage cut.

This is an awesome faux fur leopard coat from Oasis, and I love it! Come on cold January - I'm ready!

As you can see, I have a lot to feel grateful for, and will be writing my thank you cards next week.

Did you get anything awesome for Christmas?
