Staycation Ideas for 2016 - create your own mini adventure

Another year has almost passed, and as we wave goodbye to 2015, we look forward to the goodies that 2016 may bring us. As someone who hasn't been away since 2013, I've worked hard to enjoy the idea of staycation in the meantime. The mini-break, closer to home, can still have the power to refresh your soul and inject some fun into your life.

This summer, on the hottest day of the year, I had an 8 hour holiday (!) to Brighton (create your own mini adventures), so when Travelodge asked me to share some Staycation Ideas for 2016, I knew I was the right lady for the job!

This is a sponsored post but all views are my own.

Retro-tastic trip to Blackpool:

People have been travelling to Blackpool for a seaside break since the 1700s, but the railway built in the Victorian times linking it to Northern Industrial towns really cemented it as a British holiday destination. Embrace the tacky and kitsch atmosphere and wear your kiss me quick hat with pride.

Visit during the day- The Blackpool Tower Ballroom

Visit during the night - The illuminations

Stay - Travelodge Blackpool

Spa Break to Bath:

Even more historic as a relaxing trip than Blackpool; Bath has been a spa town since Roman times. For book worms, it was where Jane Austin lived too.

Visit during the day - Thermae Bath Spa

Visit during the night - Live music at The Bell Inn

Stay - The Halcyon Apartments

Romany Caravan in Wales:

Perhaps the idea of unplugging, and getting back to Mother Nature appeals? These vintage 1940s Romany caravans would certainly create a staycation to remember.

Stay - Owl Cabin

I'm hoping that 2016 brings me a hot holiday abroad along with a couple of mini breaks in the UK. There really is so much to offer close to home, it seems a shame not to dive right in and discover our hidden gems too.
