I wouldn't label myself as a musical fan, but when my step-sister asked if we could see The Lion King, I embraced the chance to try something new. As musicals go The Lion King is a pretty safe bet.
The costuming, lighting and staging was phenomenal and really showcased the potential of creativity to the maximum. It's an expensive night out, which in total cost the pair of us £180 including drinks. I'd won £100 in theatre vouchers which I'd used to part pay for our seats, phew.
There is no doubt that every penny was spent on creating an awesome show, however it is a lot of money. Would I have spent it without a voucher? Sadly, at the moment, I don't think I can answer yes.
Rather shockingly, during the performance an audience member had a medical emergency and their friend had to call out for help. A reminder I guess that our lives can change at any given moment.
