Yesterday I finally managed to get to Rockin' (The Rockabilly Scene) - an exhibition at The National Theatre:
''Rockin’ is photographer Andrew Shaylor’s unique portrayal and subsequent book of the contemporary rockabilly scene. Shaylor captures the raw energy of the music and the commitment of the rockabilly community to authenticity.''
Rockin' The Rockabilly Scene by Andrew Shaylor is a large photographic coffee-table book documenting the history of Rockabilly. The National Theatre displayed some of the photos in their upstairs foyer.
I had a flick through the book and was happy to recognise two ladies as fabulous Burlesquers that I have worked with! The delectable Missy Malone and Chrys Columbine:
I have to say, I wasn't over impressed with the photos....considering they were taken at some of the most colourful and exciting Rockabilly events I felt they didn't quite capture the awesome atmosphere at places like Las Vegas and Hemsby. Perhaps I am a little jaded!
