I wouldn't usually turn to Miss Honey Boo Boo for life affirming advice, but this time, she's hit the nail on the head. We're often encouraged to work out what our weaknesses are, and focus on developing and improving them. To better ourselves by reducing the things we're bad at.
Now, I'm definitely one for promoting self reflection, and self improvement, however I think Miss Boo Boo is right here. There is a danger that we spend so long thinking about what we're not so hot at, that we become consumed with our own weaknesses. We may find it near impossible to change and become the perfect person we dream of being.
A stronger position to place yourself in when wanting to grow and improve is to build upon the strengths you already possess. We can't all be brilliant at everything, and I'd rather spend my time focusing on what I'm already succeeding at, and build that to become something huge and loud, than filling my thoughts with reminders of things I'm not so naturally good at.
"I'm already pretty cool. But I want to get cooler." If you can figure out what makes you cool, you can figure out how to amplify that. Go with your strengths, rather than your weaknesses.
