I found this quote on social media recently, and it was exactly what I needed to read. I shared it over in instaland and it seems I wasn't alone.
I think we're sometimes a little guilty of falling for the stories we watch in films, or read in books. Becoming envious of the lives we think everyone else leads, behind the doors we cannot see into.
We forget that life simply is a mixture of ordinary, mundane moments, squeezed between some amazing moments and some awful moments. We will all have terrible ones, and boring ones. And the trick is to accept this, and learn to tolerate them all, knowing they are all temporary.
We hold the power to make some of dull moments less mundane by changing our mindset, and we hold the power to create more awesome moments with our life choices. We cannot escape the majority of the awful moments, but generally we still hold some power as to how long we allow them to stick around.
Human beings are generally pack animals, and most of us seek connections with others, and we chase the sense of belonging with others. We want friends, and most of us want a partner. People to share our life moments with; not just the awesome ones, but the mundane and terrible ones too. The boom of social media just proves this; we seek connections, we want to be heard and we want to share our moments with others.
So remember, breathe in the amazing, hold on through the awful, and relax and exhale during the ordinary.
