Midwinter Pottery: Glendale by John Russell in Fashion Shape

I'm usually very good at not buying random vintage china, but in honour of my new flat (I'm moving next week) I treated myself to this little plate set. It has one large serving plate, four medium plates, and five side dishes. Apologies that I don't know the proper terms! I picked them up in a charity shop for £8.

I always like to know a bit about stuff I own, so I trotted off like a happy bunny to Google. Sadly I'm still a little confused! I would appreciate any help!

So, the set is Midwinter Pottery, which started in 1910, but really came into its own in the 1950s. Roy Midwinter used top quality designers including Terrance Conran, John Russell, and Peter Scott. It seems the 'Fashion Shape' was produced from 1955 onwards.

I noticed that the stamps had different numbers, the one above has 3-67, and the ones below have 11-66 and 2-67, are they month and year stamps?

The cats

Over in Twitterland I tweet about some of my trials and tribulations of my two old lady cats. Last night I thought I'd snap a couple of pics to share their little faces. Yes, I may well end up a crazy cat lady.

This is Muffin. She is half persian, and has an adorable flat face. She is an old lady now, perhaps 16 years old. She purrs very loudly, and snores like a truck. She is no trouble at all. Oh, and she's a killing machine, in her time she has brough us mice, frogs, birds (including a pidgeon) as well as a squirrel. For such a small cat she's quite an impressive hunter.

Here is Biskit. She is a bit of a bruiser, and this photo summarises her grumpiness beautifully! She is a tad older than Muffin, so perhaps 17. She is more of a challenge, but I do heart her so. She has never killed anything more than a fly, and loves hunting pens. Biskit has quite stiff joints these days, and has got more needy as she ages. She basically follows me around, and sits as close as possible, even if it looks rather uncomfortable. If I let her, she sleeps next to my face. This is her this morning, sleeping on top of my face.

As you can see I'm far from amused.

Today I'm going for a randomly tropical look.

Rockalily in Total Tattoo Magazine

I'm super excited to say Rockalily has been featured in August's issue of Total Tattoo. It was voted best tattoo magazine in 2010 and 2011 and its not hard to see why; its the only one I'd buy.

We're cat people

Mother Rockette and my Step-Dad are currently away in their house in France (oh la la). My Step-Dad is usually found blogging away about the French Resistance during World War II  but everyone needs a break! He has been amusing me with daily photo updates, so I thought I'd share!

They have 'adopted' two french cats, who have been named Salt and Pepper.

They don't seem so stray anymore do they!?
